I loved the unique color transitions and the texture shown on the reference picture of this beetle.  I also took quite a bit of liberty with the background, using masking fluid to show the vein structure of the leaf.  This beetle is painted using Daniel Smith watercolor paints on 5" by 7" Winsor & Newton 300 gms cold pressed watercolor paper.  This piece is matted and framed, and is ready to hang.
